Emi's whole life has been a lie, but why? Does the intruder who breaks into her mother's house while Emi is housesitting have something to do with it all? Lot's of questions and no answers. The only person she trusts is her mother's next door neighbor, Oliver. But he's an old man who can barely get around.There has to be a love interest. Unfortunately, Emi loves Daniel--almost idol worships him--but he is standoffish. Sigh, and no one else in sight. Suddenly, Emi's life is turned upside down when she is lured to the Austrian Alps with Daniel at her side. And that's when everything really gets weird. And exciting.
This is a real page-turner, and you'll enjoy it, along with Ronda Gibb Hinrichsen's novel, "Missing." Check them out. You'll be glad you did.

That is what happens to Emi while her mother is in Europe and she is house sitting. Emi and the guy she has a gigantic crush on decide to go to Austria to see if they can solve the mystery. While there, Emi meets her family and tries to puzzle out the truth about a mysterious legend and who she can trust.
I really liked this book. It was fast-moving and the plot kept me interested. I liked the character of Emi, who was shy - yet when she had to be brave, she rose to the challenge. I have read a lot of mysteries lately, and this was one of the best.

This second novel by Ronda is a stunning portrait in suspense, deceit, sacrifice and courage. Emi Warrin is awakened in the night to find a thief in her mother's house. She is not aware that a trap has been set for her, that a mysterious forged letter, a golden vial and an ancient curse will change her life forever. When she decides to go looking for clues about her deceased father, she finds all sorts of deceit. things not as they seem, and she finds a mafia-type family living in the ancestral manor in the Austrian Alps.
To find out who is behind the break-in at her mother's house, she must act as a spy to save her self, her family and her best friend Daniel. When she finds out that she is the First born She in a long line of ancesters who had sons first, she must thwart those close to her who wait to deceive her. Emi is the only one who can free the centuries old curse from her family and save Daniel and the rest of her family.
The Austrian Alps makes a fascinating setting for this breathtakingly suspenseful thrill ride of a novel to a shocking climax. There are big surprises galore.

When Ronda mentioned to a group if anyone would like to review her book, I jumped at the chance. When her publisher sent me the book I couldn't wait to get started in it. I knew it would be cleanly written with no language or sexual episodes throughout. I love a good mystery and some paranormal as long as it is not to outrageous. "Trapped" fit the bill perfectly for me. Filled with suspense, mystery and thrills with a slight touch of the paranormal with not a real strong romance side to the plot. The first few pages at the beginning grabbed me and it was hard to put the book down.
Emi the main character of the book, is watching her mother's house while she is gone on a trip. When someone breaks in while she is sleeping, she manages to get away without being noticed. This leads into the meat of the story line. The main course of the story takes place in Austria, when Emi and her friend Dennis go in search of her father, who according to her mother died when she was a young child. This is when the mystery stars to unravel and one has to figure out which one are the good guys and who isn't.
The story revolves around a curse that was place on the Tillman family by the Traugott's and until the Firstborn female arrives they would die a excruciating death of a flesh eating disease. Only she could break the curse. Emi was the Firstborn She. Trying to keep her heritage a secret worked until a trapped was set and she took the bait. Now it's up to her to find the Kuhati, the golden vial to break the curse. Will she be able to protect her father and mother. What about Dennis who she has loved it seems like forever but does he love her. When she meets Lucas and his family are they the real McCoy or the imposters. So many twist and turns that one may think they know who is who and then it suddenly changes. There are more twist and turns than a back country road at times to keep one guessing. Can she make a decision as to who to save and who to destroy. Will the vial prove to be the truth or its it just a false replica and the curse just a century old scare tactic.
I feel this book can be read by any age group from 14 years old on up or by anyone that likes a cleanly written paranormal adventure with a suspense filled plot to it. Very enjoyable read for my part.

This story never lagged. There was plenty of action and also a couple of twists and turns. I read the whole thing straight to the end. Very very good.
Would I read this book again or recommend it to others, I don't think so. I don't care much for fantasy. Maybe someone else would enjoy this book I only finished it because I didn't have anything else to read at the time.
