One phone call was all it took to turn Ashley’s world upside down. Aliens from outer space? Check. Government deal to mandate women sign up for alien courtship? Check. A woman willing to allow someone else to dictate her life? No way in hell. Screw the government. Screw the aliens. She makes her own decisions on how her future plays out.

One small, obscure planet in the farthest reaches of the universe. How Karac and his fellow warriors stumbled across it, he’ll never know. But thank the gods they did. The planet was teeming with possible truemates. One mate for each warrior - a lifelong commitment of respect, loyalty, and protection. What more could a female ask for? Too bad his mate doesn’t see it that way.

Two different cultures, two different worlds. Will they come to understand each other, let alone make a lifelong bond? Trouble brews back on Karac’s home planet and Karac needs Ashley to see things his way, quickly. With time running out, Ashley will have to make a decision that could change the fate of the universe, forever.

This is so much like a few other books I have read recently but this one had no punch to it at all. The 'aliens' spoke fluent american slang. Except for telling us they were aliens, there was nothing else to indicate it. The author mentions Ashley's first kiss some time ago (really?) but fails to mention losing her virginity that bonding night. I think this author needs to cook a little longer and gain some experience/maturity before writing any more romance -- or at least market it for teens. Good try. Didn't make it.

Karac Kaldar Warriors #1 edition by TJ Yelden Romance eBooks Reviews

Started off good and strong. But there were soon lots of plot holes, and the character became weak. Also it was short and quite one dimensional, very simplistic. No heated scenes either. Wouldn't recommend.
I don't want to come off sounding rude because Ms. Yelden did manage to keep her focus on the storyline instead of the sex, which was entirely absent from the story. But the narrative fell kind of flat after Karac took Ashley up to his spaceship so he could make his own. I'm not saying it was entirely bad because it had its humorous moments as well, but the possible love triangle set up between Ashley, Karac, and Nathan disappeared into thin air once she was aboard the alien ship. Also Ashley's disgust and refusal to be with any Kaldarhns once she'd been abducted disappeared with alarming rapidity that didn't strike me as realistic. So it was good but not fantastic in my opinion.
This was a very nice S.F. romantic story. Thank you Yelden for writing a love story that wasn't filled with endless pages of graphic sex. Romance as it should be written. Look forward to future books.
Pretty good story. I enjoyed how the relationship between the two main characters developed into love, even though there was the old "fated to be my mate" thing going on. Also, the story, while a bit tame, was fine. The reasons why this was not a five star book are as follows
1. Heavy on romance
2. While we really get to know the heroine, the other characters, including the hero, are very one-dimensional and lack depth
3. Tame storyline and no sex...pretty much fade to black then next day rolls around - very YA feel to this book
4. Not much science fiction - if anything, some stuff doesn't make sense (for example, even with compatibility, how does that mark appear?)
Recommended for light beach read and lovers of romance.
Don't understand all the detractors as this was a wonderful book. Many levels to it and just enough suspense to make it interesting. Sad part is that it looks like it has been over a year since it was written and no 2nd book yet. So many openings for other books too. Please don't let the detractors stop you from continuing this series. Wonderful book.
I wanted to like this book – mainly because it was a clear rip-off of Evangeline Anderson’s Brides of the Kindred series, and I’ve read all those and I wanted more. I have paid for my greed. This book is just ... not good. I hate to say it, but it’s not. The writing is flat, and the story feels awkward. There are scenes that go on way too long (like when the heroine is making her plans to hide) and others that fly by (like when the heroine realizes that she’s in love with the hero; this huge revelation is a few paragraphs long and mostly is due to him being polite to her and looking good when he works out). I should have read the other reviews more carefully. There is NO SPICE. Zip. They don’t even kiss until almost halfway through, and the author cuts us off from the big sex scene like she’s Margaret Mitchell or something. I think there was some peripheral drama on the home planet, but it felt forced and I skimmed those parts. I did really want to like this book. The premise is great, it’s just been done way better.
All of the characters, humans and aliens talk with the same voice, that is their speech patterns are all exactly the same. You could t tell one speaker from another if the author didn't tell you who was talking. The story was plot light, and the heroine went from believable to just giving in for no understandable reason. Some things were well thought out by the author such as the female register, but the idea that governments would allow aliens to trade technology for women, without some kind of fight was grossly unbelievable. I liked where this story was going but it executed poorly and the writing got worse and felt rushed as the story continued. Readers should know the "good parts" are completely skipped over with a "he carried me into the bedroom", and then a "the next morning". They barely kiss. Besides a few "F-words" thrown in for effect the story is very G rated. I cannot recommend this book, it's just not anywhere near polished enough for public consumption. Best of luck to the author in improving her craft.
